DDP Story
In February 2020 Doug Wilson held his 50th birthday party with three bands and a large turnout. Everyone encouraged him to do it again. When the pandemic hit he delayed the party until July 2021 and the first annual Doug Daze of Summer was born. The turnout and success of the event influenced Doug to plan another music festival in 2022. Though it was a private party in the beginning, the popularity of the event has called for growing it to a full-on music festival and eventually the development of Doug Daze Productions. As of April 2023, Doug Daze Productions became a Kansas recognized non-profit and 501c3 is currently pending. The goal of Doug Daze Productions is to coordinate and plan both small and large music events in and around Wichita and offer affordable music events.
Why is it called Doug Daze?
Doug Daze Productions comes from the name of the festival, Doug Daze of Summer, which was developed first. He named the festival using a pun of the phrase “Dog Days of Summer.” He chose the word “daze” instead of “days” to emphasize the state one can be in after experiencing a lot of live music. A “Doug Daze” is equal parts bliss and exhaustion.
